Our central heating boiler has failed. So we’ve no heating and no hot water. There’s snow on the ground and the temperature is below 0 °C. I’ve contacted a gas engineer and am waiting for a call back. Please pray for us that this problem is soon resolved.

Because God trusted St. Joseph to be the protector of His Son, I invoke St. Joseph to resolve your immediate need to restore the heat in your home. I agree that is a nightmare during the cold wintertime months.
St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests, desires and needs. Amen.

Thank you for all your prayers. I know they worked! My fear was the plumber wouldn't show up or he'd say we needed a part that was out-of-stock.
Well, the guy arrived early. Couldn't have been more miserable if he tried, lol, but we hadn't booked him to entertain us. Anyway we needed a part which he was able to obtain straightaway. Heating and hot water back on. My wife and I are now defrosting!
So thank you all so much for your prayers. As I've said on this forum before I really do believe in the power of prayer.

tth1 In gratitude to Our heavenly Father for prayers answered. I've got 7 more days to complete this novena to St. Joseph and it will now be said in thanksgiving to God and the intercession of St. Joseph. Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. Oh St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ Our Lord, so that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls - Pray for me. Amen Say for nine mornings for anything you may desire. It has never been known to fail, so be sure you really want what you ask for.

Thanks one and all but I regret being too cock-a-hoop about getting my heating back. Things went very bad the day after. I slipped on ice and have badly broken my right arm (my dominant arm). The cheerful surgeon told me it may not be fixable, I'll probably be in pain for life and he doesn't think I'll ever drive again. One thing he's wrong about is the pain. I'm no longer in pain. I was discharged from hospital Tuesday. Informed yesterday I've to return to the hospital on Christmas Day and they're going to operate on 26TH December. The cheery surgeon was the on-call orthopaedic surgeon and wouldn't put me on the trauma list last Sunday. My surgery next Monday is being done by one who specialises in elbows.
As I'm going in hospital tomorrow and it's quite hard typing left-handed I may not be around until sometime next week.
One saving grace is my brother is getting on a plane and coming over from Australia to help us out. Thanks to Covid I haven't seen him for several years and I can't wait to see him
I ask for your prayers, please, that God will guide my surgeon on Monday to fix me up. I thank you all in advance. I pray for all our members and hope you all have a blessed and joyful Christmas. God bless!

tth1 I am very disheartened by the news of your serious injury. Please know that I will keep you in my prayers for healing and for hope especially on the day of your surgery. In kind I ask that you think of me on 12/28 when I am scheduled for a spinal procedure to help relieve pain and mobility issues. My neurosurgeon has said that surgery to correct the multiple conditions causing my problems might be inevitable but in the interim this may help. At least you have found a blessing in your misfortune; that of a welcomed reunion with your brother. Family is so important especially during the holidays. It is nice for you both to enjoy that companionship in spite of the circumstances. I'm spending Christmas with my daughter and her family and got to participate in the Christmas vigil Mass at her parish. It has been a while since I've been able to attend Mass in person and to be able to blend my voice in song with my daughter was a special Christmas gift. We used to sing together the choir years ago. On the 28th she will be my designated driver to the pain center and then I will recover at her house before going back home after the New Year. Let's pray that 2023 will bring better days to the both of us. 🙏 St. Raphael Angel of healing and health, pray for us. Amen Prayer before surgery: Loving Father, I entrust myself to your care this day; guide with wisdom and skill the minds and hands of the medical people who minister in your Name, and grant that every cause of illness be removed, I may be restored to soundness of health and learn to live in more perfect harmony with You and with those around me. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.

tth1 I hope that your surgery went well and your recovery is swift as possible. It might require several weeks to months of rehabilitation to achieve good functionality of your arm. I pray that the "cheerful surgeons" dire predictions won't come to pass. 🙏 St. Raphael Angel of healing and health, pray for us. Amen. Prayer after surgery: Blessed Savior, I thank you that this operation is safely past, and now I rest in your abiding presence, relaxing every tension, releasing every care and anxiety, receiving more and more of your healing life into every part of my being. In moments of pain I turn to you for strength, in times of loneliness I feel your loving nearness. Grant that your life and love and joy may flow through me for the healing of others in your name. Amen.

RN69 Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts and for your prayers. Surgery done and my orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in elbows was far more optimistic. I had to have some metal plates fitted and my radial head replaced. I recovered well but was a bit doolally in the few hours after I came round from anaesthesia. The surgeon said the procedure went well. Unfortunately, I had to stay in hospital for two days because my surgeon wanted me to have IV antibiotics for 48 hours. My biggest problem currently is my arm is encased in plaster and in a sling and I am really missing my independence. I'm not the most patient of patients and want everything back to normal now. I'm being reviewed on 9th January. I'll know more then. Whatever degree of pain it causes I will be fully compliant with physiotherapy. I must get this arm back. I have a chronic back problem so you have my complete empathy. I hope your procedure went as planned and had the desired outcome. You are so right about family and you must have been very happy to spend time with yours. I'm counting the hours and I think for the first time ever I'm looking forward to rising early on New Year's Day. My left shoulder is now complaining so I need to stop typing. Please be assured of my prayers.

tth1 Thanks be to God for medical progress and the gifted surgeons to perform these modern day miracles. I am certain that your new bionic elbow will serve you well as you flex and extend it to regain a normal range of motion. But you are right about PT being the tough part of your recovery. My epidural injection went well with decreased pain and increased mobility. The pain center clinic was amazingly efficient without the cattle call attitude I've experienced in other hospital settings of this type of service. The Dr. doing the procedure was informative and has been doing this for over 25 years. He answered my medical questions as to type of steroid and local anesthetic agents he would be using. I had almost immediate pain reduction post procedure going down from 6-7 to a 1-2 on the pain scale. It isn't a cure all but a welcome break from chronic pain. Medicare guidelines allow for up to 4 epidural injections per year. Hopefully I will be able to get in a visit with my son and his family somewhere in between those injections. I do appreciate your thoughts towards my own problems as you are dealing with serious injuries yourself. May St. Raphael Angel of health and healing continue to bring the powerful balm of God's love into our lives. 🙏
