Since the Divine Mercy Novena begins at the end of Lent, I thought I'd put this out there for discussion.
I've been saying the chaplet fairly seriously for the past year or so, but I still need to get round to reading St. Faustina's Diary.
What are your experiences with the Divine Mercy or St. Faustina's writings?

What are your experiences with the Divine Mercy or St. Faustina's writings? I think the best part of the overall prayer is the last bit: Holy God Holy Mighty One Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
I feel like that last bit could be said alone to great benefit daily.

St. Faustina's Diary has inspired me so much that I refer to it regularly to increase my devotion. In fact, I made a special topical index in the blank pages at the back of the Diary so I could keep all those special pages handy, since the index doesn't cover them all. There are a lot of spiritual teachings in almost 600 pages of writing.

I pray it daily, after my Rosary.

I have read bits of the diary. I used to read it regularly because there was a copy at the chapel where I used to have a regular hour of Adoration. Every now and then, there would be a line that would blow me away. But mostly I found it very, very tedious, which is not uncommon for me when it comes to many writings of the saints. I know there's a big element of pride there on my part, and it would be beneficial for me to try to shake that off.
One Lent I did try to pray the chaplet every Friday at 3pm. I think that was the time I was pregnant and had HG so I was so thankful I could just say it without expending a lot of mental or physical energy. I did feel like I was really giving myself over to God.

I like the chaplet more than the book for myself. I cam never get past the flowery language. Same reason I cant read certain bible editions. I get hung up on the language. But I know the book is of great value.

This devotion us special to me..I was introduced to this years, ago when one of our children were making first penance and the parents prayed the Chaplet together as the children received the sacrament.
About a year or so ago I found this chaplet on you tube set to music. It is one way that I pray this, and I sometimes have this version playing in my mind during the day.
I have read excerpts of St.Maria Faustina's diary, but not the entire book as of yet.

There was a guy at the other place that was a in a Knights of Columbus chapter that recorded a version he wrote. It's gorgeous. SO far I have a collection of about 4 musical versions. His was by far the best. I'll see if I can locate it. They will send you a CD of it for a very small donation.

Maybe it would be helpful if we posted the passages that were of special impact to our spirituality. 156 "Once, I desired very much to receive Holy Communion, but I had a certain doubt, and I did not go. I suffered greatly because of this. When I set about my work, Jesus suddenly stood by me and said, "My daughter, do not omit Holy Communion unless you know well that your fall was serious; apart from this, no doubt must stop you from uniting yourself with Me in the mystery of My love. Your minor faults will disappear in My love like a piece of straw thrown into a great furnace. Know that you grieve me much when you fail to receive Me in Holy Communion.
This passage was very consoling to me, since, I, too, was in doubt, which in itself reveals that one of the three conditions for mortal sin were missing (full knowledge!)

“O my Lord, inflame my heart with love for You, that my spirit may not grow weary amidst the storms,
the sufferings and the trials.
You see how weak I am.
Love can do all.

St Faustina's Diary can be a bit slow in parts, especially stuff talking about her day and things relating to her, but there are some incredible gems in there when Christ speaks to her, it's hard to explain but you can tell by the way St Faustina talks and the way Christ responds, that there is absolutely no way that she could be making it up, some real gems in there, but anyone who would like a short and hard hitting section of her diary I would highly recommend from 1485 to 1489. St Faustina's Diary - benedictinesofdivinewill.org/uploads/3/4/3/2/34324596/st._faustina_kowalska_-_diary.pdfI also really love the Chaplet, as in it's most simplest from is really the The Jesus Prayer, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me, a sinner." expanded slightly yet still as humble and simple, but asking for oneself and for the whole world while invoking His very passion which makes it still simple, humble and powerful IMO "For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world." "I will not delude you with prospects of peace and consolations; on the contrary, prepare for great battles. Know that you are now on a great stage where all heaven and earth are watching you. Fight like a knight, so that I can reward you. Do not be unduly fearful, because you are not alone." (Diary, 1760) Something I find very fitting for today, in times of persecution/attack on so many fronts, also something that someone with the mindset of St Faustina would not write on her own. "It is in My Passion that you must seek light and strength." (Diary, 654) Another powerful truth, is that any soul who recognises their sinfulness and misery is capable of God's infinite mercy, the more we see ourselves as God see's us the more miserable we are and the more merciful God is, hence a sinful and despairing soul is a gift for it shows God desires mercy for that soul if they turn to Him and trust in God's infinite mercy, but those who don't count themselves sinful or miserable on their own have no need of God's mercy. One who considers himself weak will strengthen himself, one who considers himself strong has no need of strengthening himself, thus the pride fall and the humble are exalted. When abortion is a right, sodomy is who they are and gender theory over God's design, these are signs of tremendous pride and rejection of God's mercy IMO. "Write: before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice..." (Diary, 1146) And I read elsewhere from other private revelation, that if sins continue to increase in number and gravity, there will no longer be mercy, for the proud who are righteous in error and evil have no need of mercy, the very mention of mercy is an insult to them, for sin is redefined, good is evil and evil is good. God Bless You

I personally prefer to pray to the Sacred Heart. If you compare the two, it is similar. I have st. Faustinas Diary.
I just was raised for first Fridays, my home is enthroned and The Sacred Heart devotions is what i know.
That and rosary😊

For example with St Faustina I can read her diary, but what do you read with St Margaret Mary Alacoque? As I've only read what I could find. I love the Divine Mercy Chaplet though because I love the Jesus Prayer, I love it's powerful simplicity. Same with the Rosary only the Rosary takes longer. God Bless You

The last 11 months hasn't helped that. I pray though that the Lord will have mercy and patience with people who have not done as well with all the goings on. Yea, I pray for mitigation and in the end it's all in God's hands anyway. Honestly there are just some people who are too far gone IMO, nobody is too far gone when it comes to Christ and He can change even the hardest of hearts, but I certainly can't, so I try to throw a couple bones out for some posters and if I don't get even an inclining of honesty or good will I think I just need to move on. God Bless You
