Hi folks,
I don't know if anyone used the CAF forum before it shut down, but I was a member there.
After it shut down, a member by the name of TisBearself from the CAF created another forum, the St Isidore Lounge, and I was on that for a while, but she recently banned me for criticising her after she closed one of my threads and deleted a response to her unfair attack on me. From what I have heard she then made a long post justifying why she banned me, and said the ban was final. Anyway I don't want to be part of a forum run by somebody like that. No thanks to being part of a forum where the forum owner is on a power trip and bans people at the first sign of critique.
She also had a problem with some of my apologetics questions, even suggesting I was mentally unstable. Anyway, I hope this place is nicer and a lot more welcoming,
So I just wanted to say hi to everyone, and that I hope we can have healthy debate and discussion here without an overzealous moderator trying to censor everything.

I don't like heavy moderated forums. That's why I got sick of CAF. As far I can tell this forum doesn't moderate much at all. Even though I disagree with most that is posted here, I prefer that to censorship.

Hi Polak, You were banned from SIL because in response to a minor comment by moderation about your posting repetitive content on one topic (without any of your content even being deleted), you:
-posted an uncivil response, which you were told politely was not appropriate due to the civility standards of the forum and the fact that moderation there can’t just ignore your threads as you suggested;
-posted a second uncivil response to moderation, also in violation of at least two forum rules stated in the FAQ, which was deleted and your thread was closed and you were reminded to please read the rules of the forum;
-posted a new thread which was apparently a very long upset rant directed at me, which I did not see but my fellow moderator did and immediately deleted it as being against the forum rules;
-then you went over to Catholic-questions forum and made a public post in a thread that I personally started there about how I was allegedly on a “power trip”.
Your behavior was not only in violation of several FAQ rules, it was also unusually combative given that none of your substantive posts regarding Catholicism were deleted, only your uncivil (and in violation of the FAQ) remarks about moderation and about myself.
Therefore you were banned.
I see you are continuing the behavior by posting here in the same vein. I will not be further discussing or responding to this, but since this is a public forum and I sometimes post here (I am currently not posting on Catholic-questions which seems to be in a transitional state), I figured I would respond once.
We at SIL wish you all the best in your current and future endeavors. However, we have only a small, busy, volunteer staff and we cannot deal with users who in the course of one day’s posting repeatedly violate our FAQ and repeatedly get disproportionately upset with moderation upon being gently corrected. We also have a high standard of civility because most if not all of the users there are seeking a friendly atmosphere free of the trolls and personal attacks and temper tantrums that occurred on CAF and other Catholic forums.
Carry on…

I do not think this is a well-advised way to introduce oneself by telling us you were banned from aother forum.
I was never on CAF but from what I pick up I feel blessed that I was not.
On the whole this seems to be a lightly moderated forum and the behaviour of most members most of the time justifies that light touch.
I pray this forum will continue in that considerate vein.

Hi Bear,
I did not post anything uncivil or any rant about you.
I made an apologetics style topic with a question, which you responded to, saying I should talk to a priest about my problems rather than posting these topics on your forum. I replied by saying that if you didn't appreciate the topic, you didn't need to participate in it. This then caused you to get your back up and respond angrily about how I don't have the right to tell you, as the moderator and owner of the forum, to get the heck out of the topic. I then responded by explaining that I never told you to 'get the heck out', I merely said if you don't appreciate the topic, you don't have to reply to it. This prompted you to delete my reply (classing it as uncivil, even though it wasn't and also to close the entire topic. I then created a post in the feedback section to you, saying I thought the treatment from your side was unfair, and that was immediately deleted too.
I then later wrote in the Catholic Questions forum to say that you seem to be on some kind of power trip, deleting and closing my topics and that you would probably ban me soon, and what did you do? You confirmed what I wrote, by banning me.
So I never once personally attacked you or was uncivil. The apologetics topics I made were actually helping me, because people were responding with some interesting answers to my questions, until you decided to close things. All of this went on for only a few days. Rather than write me a PM or something, you just closed my topics, deleted my posts and banned me, explaining that I wasn't a 'good fit for the community'. Absurd.
