tth1 My number one go to guy for lost items is St. Anthony. He never fails to find what I have lost, misplaced or can't remember where I last used it. The simplest repetitious prayer that I use is: "Dear St. Anthony please come around; something's been lost and cannot be found." He and I have an unspoken agreement that when the item is found that I donate to the St. Anthony's Bread fund. The amount is up to me however valuable I considered the item to be. My conscience usually lets me know what would be appropriate.

In USA and some parts of Europe it is St Anthony. He always comes through for me.
St. Zita (not Rita, but Zita, different saint) has also been known to help with lost items, especially lost keys.

Thank you RN69 and tisbearself . I hope St Anthony isn't too busy. I'll be asking him to find something I've not found despite turning the house upside down. Hopefully he won't make as much mess or anger my wife as much.

tth1 It's not unusual to tear apart you house in search of a missing item. For example, the parable of the woman and her lost coin in Luke 15:8–10. A woman searches her home for a lost coin, finds it, and rejoices. There have been times when I feel obsessed with locating what I have lost and go through the same place several times yet somehow it is found in that spot I so carefully searched. I jokingly accuse St. Anthony of holding back my finding the item right away for a bigger pay off to the St. Anthony's Bread fund. Here is a link to the Franciscan Mission Association that I donate to when I am in debt to St. Anthony for prayers answered. On their home page are several topics to click on and St. Anthony's Bread is the 6th one down. It explains the legend behind this devotion to St. Anthony. Pretty sure that I saw one for the UK also as it is a world wide ministry. When your lost item is located please post your good news so that I can rejoice with you and St. Anthony. secure.franciscanmissionassoc.org/o/51473/donate_page/become-a-supporter

St Anthony has not come up with a result, yet. I'm giving him time though. I've searched high and low, even in places I wouldn't expect to find the item: a recently purchased book.
May I ask which St. Anthony we're talking about? I've assumed it's St. Anthony of Padua. May be I've been asking the wrong saint!

tth1 You are correct that it is St. Anthony of Padua and he became the saint to seek help finding lost things because his book of psalms was missing. He prayed for its return and the person responsible for taking his book did return it to him. The story is more involved than that and you could read about it in any lives of the saints book. Don't give up hope of finding it. Just a thought, perhaps the book is not in your house at all. Maybe it is where ever you were prior to your being put into lockdown, like your workplace? Here's another prayer to St. Anthony which mentions his stolen book. Prayer to Find What Is Lost St. Anthony, when you prayed, your stolen book of prayers was given back to you. Pray now for all of us who have lost things precious and dear. Pray for all who have lost faith, hope or the friendship of God. Pray for us who have lost friends or relatives by death. Pray for all who have lost peace of mind or spirit. Pray that we may be given new hope, new faith, new love. Pray that lost things, needful and helpful to us, may be returned to our keeping. Or, if we must continue in our loss, pray that we may be given Christ's comfort and peace. Amen. P.S. Found a link to a site on St. Anthony that tells about his life. www.stanthony.org/who-st-anthony/

I shall certainly read about St Anthony in my book of saints.
I know the book is at home. I ordered it in the past from Amazon and there was a problem. Eventually I cancelled the order and received a refund. In November 2021 I decided to have a second attempt. According to my Amazon account it was delivered on 15th November 2021. I do recall receiving it and thinking the quality was not as good as I had hoped. Then I put it aside until another time. I would almost certainly have done that in my office (at home), which I thoroughly searched first but it isn't there.
I intend having a serious word with St. Anthony when it's quiet this evening. Perhaps I should ask him to find my memory before the book.

tth1 LOL! Sometimes I get into an ongoing one sided conversation with St. Anthony on why it's taking so long for him to help me find the item I've lost. The reason why I mentioned that your lost item might be at your workplace is that while praying the Responsory in Honor of St. Anthony, that idea popped into my head. I thought maybe St. Anthony was giving a clue but I guessed wrong. I'm continuing to pester him likewise so maybe he'll get tired of the constant petitioning and let you find the book. Of course he may be overwhelmed with requests and while yours might be in that queue, a lot of others could be ahead of you like in the cartoon below.

Today, I shall be thanking St. Anthony of Padua in my prayers, and certainly for the next few days. He has found my book. It was where I wouldn't have looked: my daughter's bedroom, even though she has borrowed things before and forgotten to return them. With my daughter's consent my wife searched her room today and found it. I don't know who is more pleased - my wife or me.

tth1 I am rejoicing in praise and thanksgiving that your book has been found!! St. Anthony came through again...in his own time. Prayer of Thanksgiving St. Anthony, God has helped me abundantly through your prayer and has strengthened me in my need. I thank God and I thank you. Accept this prayer and my serious resolve which I now renew, to live always in the love of Jesus and of my neighbor. Continue to shield me by your protection and pray to God for the final grace of one day entering the kingdom of heaven to sing with you the everlasting mercies of God. Amen.
