This was a pretty good talk given by Father Anthony earlier this week on forgiveness. He had some key points that we may not have thought about. It's only about 5 or 6 minutes. God bless!

From another perspective: "Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." Buddha. Not Catholic, but worth remembering.

Nice. And nice to see you. I generally don't care for FaceBook, but there was a great video today on there (wish I could link it) about a woman who was at Auschwitz, and she was a twin they performed experiments on and she forgave Dr. Munch and also Mengele. Let me see if I can find it, it was amazing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdgPAetNY5U

In this morning's Divine Office, I was struck by a verse that I had seen many times before from Ps. 99. "For them you were a God who forgives, yet you punished all their offenses." I wonder if God allows us to bear the consequences of our evil sowing, by allowing us to reap the effects from it. It seems that this may be in accord with His mercy, for often times folks don't amend until they hit bottom, as AA evidences in the first step.
Indeed, He is a forgiving God, and I pray that we may experience His justice, tempered with His divine mercy. In prayer, I had a foreboding sense that someone for whom I prayed over 30 years has cast the final straw and is about to meet His justice, when I read this verse today.

As Jesus said as he was dying on the Cross; “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”. We are to forgive as Jesus forgave.

I have forgiven this person, yet I have the feeling that even though God forgives them before they even ask for it, He loves us enough to discipline us so that we may come to repentance. "Blessed is the man whom God corrects." Job 5:17
