Can we PLEASE avoid doing these? Thread title. Click to read….BAM! “link to video/article/whatever” Not even a shorty description in body of post to further making a choice. You either click to re-direct read/watch whatever, or back out. (Giving whatever site a click in the process if you go too) I return you to the usual weirdness. Dominus vobiscum

I 100% agree. It's lazy.

I agree and would add that people shouldn't post links that are behind a paywall. Don't expect us to pay to view something you've posted. Instead, gives us a precis of what the subject matter at that link is about.

How about cutting down on all the links and just discussing an issue based on your own life experiences and reading. Kind of like when discussing something in person. Or before the Internet came along and everyone all of a sudden became an authority on every subject under the sun. And many want to turn everything into a formal debate. Anyone can find an article online to support any position. As Kempis wrote "If you had the whole scripture and all the maxims of the philosophers at your fingertips what would be the use of it all without God's love and grace." Now we have all the information that exists at our fingertips but what good is it. Information is not knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not grace. See no links. No searching the Internet. Just comments from my own mind and memory. What a concept!

I think it is perfectly valid for people to want to discuss things they may have read on the internet. When they do that it is very useful for them to provide a link. Then you can read what they read. This means you are able to form your own opinion on whatever is at the link and not have to rely on what someone else has to say about it.

I have done this to link to an article I thought was worth the attenion, mostly because arthritis has limited my typing speed. In the past I could do 90 words per minute. No more.

I respectfully disagree. Sometimes you just want to share a link. Sometimes commentary isn't needed.
I would just add that I am referring to links for articles and other printed material. Where it is a link to a video, a written summary would be nice, 2-3 sentences tops, along with running time. Not everyone has 20, 30, 60 minutes to watch a video, whereas printed material can be skimmed in a matter of seconds, to see if the reader deems it worthy of closer attention. When you have to sit and watch a video, and very often listen to someone's long, drawn-out explanation of the main point or points (assuming there is one), it would be nice to know first what the video is about, and what the main points are.
