Stella and all, I’ve been busy for the last week so just saw this post now. I will check with Clare but I’m not sure how much functionality this platform even has to screen new accounts or disable guest posting. In the meantime it’s a simple matter of stepping over the piles of road apples. The “block” function is quite helpful in this regard. As my old fifth grade teacher Sister Helen Marie said, “Babies must play!”
Our main problem here (besides the babies) is that we do not seem to have anyone who has administrator rights. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how it seems to be. "Professor Q" seems to have vanished. I do know that our moderator can delete users, not sure if she can delete posts or not.
I have actually had a ProBoards site of my own "sitting in the wings" for quite some time now --- just in case I'd ever decide to "fire up" yet one more of so, so many Catholic forums on the Internet --- but I haven't done anything with it, and may not in the foreseeable future. I was playing around with it the other day, to see if the admin (me) has the capabilities you describe. I didn't burn much time on it. The great advantage of ProBoards is that it's free, whereas many others are not. If our moderator would ever like to "forklift" CCS onto that platform, and thereby allow her not only to be moderator but administrator, I'd be happy to donate it to her, though I seriously doubt you could forklift over all of the old messages (as Catholic-Questions did with Catholic Answers Forum). The name is not "Catholic Common Sense", and I don't know how to change it, or even if it can be changed. So if it were possible to switch over to a new ProBoards platform, y'all might have to get used to a different name. I just created it on a whim one day, and never did anything with it.
Some of the invective against me has been priceless, and I'm considering making a wall hanging out of it, so that I can get a good laugh from time to time. "One of the biggest a**h***s in the universe" --- I'll wear that as a badge of pride. I've been called worse.
