www.ncronline.org/news/vaticans-liturgy-head-latin-mass-convert-shia-labeouf-lets-talkThis is good, I applaud this. It's very respectful of Cardinal Roche to offer to talk with him. It'll be very interesting to see how that plays out. It would be very good if Church leaders would be willing actually to have more conversations such as this, to allow traditionalists to answer the question "why do you see it this way?". No agenda, no "accompanying" in the fashion of saying, in so many words, "you're wrong, we're right, come along now and repudiate your ideas in favor of ours". Isn't synodality supposed to be all about listening? The synod in which I participated basically put our thoughts in the shredder and turned the switch on. Is that any way to react? Are not we, too, "Church"?

I hope Shia Labeouf's conversion is sincere. He is at the beginning, where it's easy to have a romantic relationship with one's faith and be enamored. But as time goes on, one's faith grows, and I hope we can see that he'll be a strong Catholic.

I'd even settle for him staying off substances and being a good, peaceful, non-abusive husband and father.
