During the recent CCS troll infestation I came upon the unfamiliar term of sealion posted in a thread. Not being sure of its exact meaning I asked my daughter about it. She hadn't heard that term being used in conjunction with unwanted cyber conversations either. But she did send me this link below that gives a full detail explanation as to what it is. After reading it I think it aptly describes what our trolls/sealions were doing. The quote below sums up the gist of the article. There may be quite a few of you who are more savvy about new lingo than I am but I'll bet there are some who were left wondering about why sealioning was being used. The article goes on to explain the origin of its usage if you are interested. [And now comes “sealioning,” a noun on Merriam-Webster’s “Words We’re Watching” list and defined as “a harassment tactic by which a participant in a debate or online discussion pesters the other participant with disingenuous questions under the guise of sincerity, hoping to erode the patience or goodwill of the target to the point where they appear unreasonable.”] www.macleans.ca/culture/sealioning-is-the-word-that-sums-up-why-twitter-discussion-is-so-unbearable

I haven't heard the term either but after reading that, I know that it's happened to me. To the point of being banned from a site I participated in for 6 years. Unfortunately sometimes those sealions follow you around to other sites trying to bait you into banishment! Best to just completely ignore them.
