On the feast of St Pio today 23 September, if you have 10 minutes to spare, this is a wonderful bio of the Saint and some of the extraordinary situations he appeared in. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAHs2xCqXaQFor a personalized visual of St Pio, this is an artwork my daughter did a few years ago. She has a special love of the Saint.

Very nice artwork. Padre Pio is a local favorite around here, given the heavy Italian-American presence and the location of his National Shrine being close by. There are at least two different Padre Pio festivals around here and I found out last night he even has kin who live in the area.

St. Pio was a remarkable priest and confessor. But after reading many anecdotes about him, I have often thought that he was one priest whose confession line I would avoid if possible.

Yes true. Apparently he had a harsh manner of correction in the confessional.

Others have said he was firm but kind. I tend to think he had to deal with a lot of people who were not sincere and were going to him out of curiosity, so he was perhaps harsh with them. If someone truly wanted to repent he would see that and be less harsh.
