Communion is only given on the tongue. No one would have an issue with you not kneeling.

There will be a solution that falls into place, Katy. Your job these days is not to stress and let your body heal. I've been contemplating on St Pio all through the day of his feast and the quote most associated with him being "pray, hope and don't worry". Consider any special treatment from the Church you might need, as temporary. We all need special treatment sometimes. 🙏 A Prayer For St. Padre Pio’s Intercession

Katy, I am sure you are not the only disabled person who is physically unable to receive in the hand. My own mother and father could not do that towards the end of their lives. My father was a stroke victim too, had one paralyzed arm and partially paralyzed leg, and would have had difficulty manipulating a Eucharist with only one good arm that he often needed to use to keep his balance. My mother's hands shook.
If you are too shy to call the parish office, please let your DH do so for you. You need to receive Jesus and Jesus would want you to. If your parish is unwilling to make an accommodation for you, find another one. I seem to recall you live in an area with many parishes. People have been receiving on the tongue here for a year even at OF Mass, I received on the tongue twice this week both times at OF, no problem and I did not have to kneel either.

Does your parish allow for parishioners to receive the Eucharist at home if ill or elderly? I know some people prefer not to do this - my father has been offered this option but responds that it, 'Isn't the same without Mass.' He had to be told forcibly by the parish priest during lockdown he could not attend Mass and that the priest couldn't bend the rules for that without creating a legal catastrophe for the Parish. He was far from the only pensioner who had to be told that as well. Some of them queued up at the Church one Sunday morning and were nearly in tears over the situation. Many of these people are like my father, they are quite elderly, and not well educated and for them they simply couldn't take the situation on board. Many have multiple chronic conditions and are visibly failing and it was all too much for them. Their Catholicism is that of the Irish or Italian or West Indian small villages and towns they grew up in. For them the possibility of not been able to receive the Sacraments was a source of sheer terror and I recall my father going to bed feeling depressed about it for a couple of days and going, 'Leave me be boy, leave me be, bury me next to your mother.'

Have you scheduled a meeting with your priest. They are there for their flock. I can't see where if you met with him and discussed your situation that some accommodation would not be made.
The priest is after all there to administer the Sacraments, and Communion is one which, by its nature should be administered to parishioners as often as possible.

katy777 you have the right to receive Communion. Either contact your parish priest or the parish office, whichever is the norm in your parish, and arrange it so that you can receive Communion at Mass or Communion is brought to you at home. Hope dh is fed up with Church not making provision for you rather than fed up with you.

Thank you all for your replies.. we will be going to Mass at a different time.. we have been going Sat night vigil. It seems that that I surprised the EHMC as I could notfold my arms over my chest to indicate I was not able to receive in hand and confused them. I was embarrassed 5hat I had to shake my head indicating I could not receive.. we need to let people know ahead of time..I agree..dh was fed up with parish, not me... The handicap pew at 5 o'clock mass falls under an EHMC. So all EHmcs would have to know this..not just the priest..
