I do hope she doesn't have it severely. I have had a positive test in the past and not a single symptom. Please be assured of prayers for your mother. May she make a full and speedy recovery.

JCath, Pray, but besides of face masks, I just wonder does the family leave shoes outdoor and wash feet at the door?
US casualties are over a million, more than many countries: Japan, Taiwan, Korea, India, poor countries, Africa. This is the major difference I saw.

You've lived in and travelled in all these countries have you Toddy? Leaving shoes at the door or not wearing them around the house is common in many places. My wife will not allow you to wear shoes in doors here and they are left in the corridor as you come in and you wear slippers. India has at least half a million dead so I'm not sure I'd cite them and those are only recorded casualties. Much of India is still undeveloped and fairly poor and many casualties are likely going unrecorded and that is true for numerous African nations as well. Japan, Taiwan and Korea are countries where a stronger adherence to obeying directives issued by govt. exists and people did stay at home during lockdowns. I'd say that as a factor was more likely to have lowered the transmission level.

Japan, Taiwan, Korea: strictly no shoes inside, low or lowest Covid mortality Other Asia countries, excl NZ and AUS: no shoes inside and/or wash feet. India .4/1400 mortality from 15-25 people per household. Still less than US 1/350 Germany, Switzerland: no shoes inside, but maybe less face mask this year. Recall, Covid virus were found in many shoes from the pharmacy shopping by the lab test!

Cite sources for that latter claim please. Why are you excluding NZ or AUS from your claims? They have low death rates and have different cultures than Japan or Korea. India has limited access to healthcare for most people so the comparison is dubious. Most people can at least access a hospital of some kind in the US, that's far form the case in India. Given this is a prayer thread for someone's mother I'll stop there -open another thread if you wish to argue this and I'm going to ask you to cite sources if you do. My source for the death rate in India was from:- www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/india/
