Our Lady of Victory (Oct. 7) and Ven. Fr. Nelson Baker

Oct 7 is now the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Previously it was the feast of Our Lady of Victory and commemorated Mary helping the Christians achieve the historic victory over the Muslims at Lepanto.

In the US we have an historic shrine to Our Lady of Victory in Lackawanna, NY, founded by Venerable Fr. Nelson Baker, a local parish priest known for his work with the poor. Fr Baker regarded Our Lady of Victory as his special patron, and succeeded in building this great basilica at a time when such places were rare in the USA. He is now on the path to sainthood.
