I was just reading this interesting bit of information from a dementia awareness page I frequent. (Both parents had Alzheimers)
Throughout history, music and sound therapies have been used to ease anxiety and better one’s health. But now UK-based neuroscientists are taking studies a step further, and they’ve found that one song in particular — “Weightless” by Marconi Union — showed a 65% decrease in overall anxiety and a 35% decrease in normal physiological resting rates.
Carrying a lighter mental load is key to our longevity and overall health. An excess of stress both intensifies and heightens the risk of many common health issues, such as heart disease, obesity, depression, gastrointestinal problems, asthma, and cognitive decline. A recent study out of Harvard and Stanford found that stress-related complications have contributed to even more deaths than Alzheimer’s.
