He seems to have been deleted. I enjoyed his posts. Did he run afoul in some way?
And I have to wonder who would have done the deleting. Pianistclare has been inactive for almost six months now, and ProfessorQ cannot be found.
We are much in need of an active moderator and/or administrator.

I possibly produced that reaction with my lengthy reply to his post the other day. He asked for my thoughts on the situation with Ngozi Fulani in the UK and I replied at some length noting how there were multiple angles it could be viewed by. If I'm upset him I'm sorry as he's a fairly intelligent young man.

Being able to look at things from other points of view besides your own, is the mark of being intelligent and tolerant. I fully "get" why, for instance, hyper-papists (especially those who cannot comprehend why Francis is received by many in a manner different from any other Popes before him) and Protestants think the way they do, and how their goodwill is to be presumed. I hope he'll come back on board. Early on, we lost another good contributor for whom I had the utmost respect (and still do). It happens in forums such as this one.

People can self-delete. Afaik, pianistclare is not active here and we don't have another with mod powers on here. So there is no one who deletes people here.
I too had mildly criticized him for posting some strong opinions on the Ukrainian government's potential ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church when afaik he has no ties or direct knowledge of Ukraine, Russia, or Orthodoxy and was going off stuff he read. I appreciate that some folks like to read and discuss world affairs, but as I said in the thread, I'm wary of armchair experts posting strong opinions/ judgments about countries where they have not lived, had family, or have some other personal tie.
That's not a reason for someone to leave a forum IMHO, especially where I'm not the admin, but people have a variety of personal life stuff going on too and who knows why they step away.

I'm sorry if I upset him with my post. I noted I disagreed with the way he talked about using conventional English as though someone using Creole or Patois was using a lesser form of English and he may have felt offended by my pointing out it is wise to be careful with regard to critiquing people for using dialect forms of English.
I noted to him that in real life I would often be using English that is not 'standard English' and that although I can waffle for hours in convoluted English it is unwise to confuse that with the underlying merit of a point if it is made in non-standard English. My father's grammar is abysmal if you judge it from the standpoint of an English teacher, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth listening to him or several other relatives who have passed on who also had limited education. It is wiser to listen to the content as well as the form. If I talk to people who lived in the East End of London growing up I'm not going to walk up to them and go on about the 'Jungian perspective of this literary work as interpreted via Derridean notions of power-relationships and the concept of unheimlich.' They'd think I was potty. I'm more likely to be saying something like, 'Alright mate' or 'Wha g'wan' or something like that. Luke is a very, very intelligent young man but I get the feeling he is from a quite upper middle-class background (nothing wrong with that either let it be said) and I wanted to draw his attention to the fact there are a wide range of views out there and intellectualism will only carry you so far in dealing with other people or issues.

Yes, now I see that, I was on too much auto-pilot and too little caffeine, and didn't think of that. He was a good contributor and I hope he will return.

Luke Anthony has contacted me via PM on another forum, and asked me to convey to everyone that he did not leave for any bad reason, he just does not wish to participate in this particular forum. There are no bad feelings.

Hello everybody, I was the user Luke Anthony. I actually created a new account a couple of days ago so that I could contact a member of this forum about something not directly related to Catholic Common Sense, and I was surprised to see it was approved by the moderators as I tried to create an account a couple of months ago to clear up concerns about why I had left, but it said it was awaiting moderator approval.
Homeschooldad kindly agreed to post on my behalf - and I can assure you all that there are no bad feelings. At the time I just felt I really needed a break from online forums and generally lack the self-control to stay away for more than a few days if I still have access to my account. Returning had not really crossed my mind until very recently as I have had a lot going on in my life.
Anyhow, I trust you are all well!

Truly he is risen in answer to your user name - reasonably well - much joy with COVID and an extreme situation at home for a bit. But that has settled down a bit.

Seems to have deleted himself again in response to a rather insulting response he received. Perhaps he will reappear down the road.

Seems to have deleted himself again in response to a rather insulting response he received. Perhaps he will reappear down the road. It wasn't meant to be insulting, just as your comment wasn't, either. It was a frank admonition of where his obsessive delusional thinking could lead him. The post he deleted sounded a bit too much like a manifesto. Glorifying a brutal dictator is a sure way to make oneself a social outcast. I doubt I'm the first to point that out. I suspect he's been told IRL, too. Probably repeatedly.
