Perhaps about other topics besides news.

Perhaps make some such posts yourself, Katy, and others will respond to your threads.
Other people are posting what they think is interesting or important.

That's possibly a bot and not a real person.

That's possibly a bot and not a real person. Father Normandt is a real priest. Myself and one of the other priests on SIL communicated with him and verified that he is an actual priest. He used to post on CAF and would have been verified by them as well. Further, he has other social media where he posts his reflections, and he occasionally responds to posts where he is tagged and always to private messages.

Thank you Bear - shame he never posts outside that one thread - but maybe he doesn't want to get drawn into back-and-forth debate which could become contentious. I've seen some priests on forums steer clear of that by restricting their posting in similar ways.

That makes sense. I commend him for not pushing stuff as I've been on forums where I've seen priests from various backgrounds trying to flog merchandise. Sometimes in a non-too-subtle manner.
My French would be too limited for in-depth chat, I could do basic directions, ask how to to get to the banks, shops etc. etc. Its sufficient for a holiday but that's about it.

Perhaps about other topics besides news. Jhmo. I edit this to mean..negative news or insensitive non catholic articles that are not Catholic based..

What is perceived as 'negative news' is a very wide field. That is something that is going to vary very widely from one person to another. Personally, I find the COVID articles mildly annoying but I don't have to read them if I don't wish to and the poster obviously feels they are something of deep concern to them. Also, since he posts them without being in any way rude to others or insulting I see no problems if he wishes to keep doing. I tend to like posting articles about particular topics and some of those will focus on Catholicism but others may include sci-fi or comics or all sorts of other things.
So long as people don't descend into personal insults or start espousing extremist stuff my general rule with any forum is, 'Read what I like and ignore the rest.'

Ok that's fair but posters are waning.
I would think because of the vibe here.. Jhmo .

There are only a few posters really, it is a nearly dead forum to be honest. It might honestly be an idea for us all to move on, the forum has no admin and only a handful or regular users. If it dies so be it, it's on life support really to an extent as it is.

I always liked the Catholic based posts especially the formation teachings of the Pope which I still read each day from the Vatican. But I had enough of being constantly poked in the eye by the new 'in crowd' and was cancelled. It's a shame to see the forum just die. Hope you are healing and happy, Katie.

I hope that the forum doesn't die out. It's a social media out reach for me. I read and comment on the topics that interest me. But I also read those topics that might annoy me. I don't think that having an echo chamber is good to have in any discussion type of forum. Just 'listening to' voices similar to your own isn't very stimulating. I might get riled up by some posters comments but I try to refrain from answering if I can't do it with the love of Christ in mind. It was extremely difficult to do that when the forum was being inundated with bots so I chose to ignore their rather vile posting. I am glad to have you back posting on CCS @stellamaris even if only now and again. We need all opinions expressed even if some feathers can get ruffled. And I like reading Fr. NormandT's daily posting also katy777.
