onepeterfive.com/chief-exorcist-father-amorth-padre-pio-knew-the-third-secret/Yes, I know, Steve Skojec. It's only by the grace of God that you, or I, or anyone else, have the Faith. What he has lost (or whatever happened), any of us could lose too. But the article isn't about him. Either Father Amorth is a liar, and is making all of this up, or he is not a liar. Anybody up for that? If so, go for it.

Well first of all we aren't obligated to believe private revelations at all, so you, me, and Fr Amorth can have whatever opinions we want and it's just that, one person's opinion.
Second, Fr Amorth is dead for years, so we have no way of verifying if he even said what he's quoted as saying.
Third, none of this conspiracy stuff is particularly important to my daily life as a Catholic.
I always just figured the Third Secret said more or less that the Russians were gonna drop an atomic bomb on Europe, the Vatican, the US, or all three. It didn't take much deep thought to jump to that conclusion.

Yes, that is true, we are dealing with private revelations here, but this is not a question of Fr Amorth having an "opinion", rather, it is a question of, at bottom, whether Padre Pio actually said these things or not. There are several possibilities: - Zavala made it all up, and Fr Amorth said no such thing
- Fr Amorth said this, but he was lying
- Fr Amorth said this, and it a true account of what Padre Pio said, in which case:
- Either Padre Pio was right
- Or he was under some sort of delusion, was mentally ill, or what have you
- Or he was lying (some saints have indeed lied, from the time of Peter and the cock's three crows onwards, no saints aside from Our Lady were immaculately conceived)
If Padre Pio spoke the truth, and if he was right, it does indeed have great importance for all of us.
I have long been of one mind with Mother Angelica, and suspect that we did not get the whole story on the Third Secret. I have even wondered if John XXIII called Vatican II in a vain, last-ditch attempt to keep prophecies of a great crisis in the Church from coming to pass.

It took about the wit of a kitten to guess in the era of MAD that either side might under certain conditions wipe out the other and I hold no especial brief for either as the Soviets and the US were both prone to playing games of brinksmanship.
This conspiracy stuff does not inform my life as a Catholic either and I view it as extraneous noise.

This conspiracy stuff does not inform my life as a Catholic either and I view it as extraneous noise. I've always had as a pet theory that the "various nations" of which Our Lady spoke may have been the Jews of Europe. It would make sense, certainly they were annihilated. Everyone from the 1950s onward was afraid of nuclear annihilation. They weren't so afraid of a loss of faith and grave crisis and scandal in the Church. In those days, nobody would even have thought of such a thing. If indeed the Third Secret did refer to that, it's much clearer and more obvious now. We'll never know in this life unless a future Pope "comes clean" and tells the world, in so many words, "we didn't give you the whole story, but now, here it is", unless what was published as the Third Secret (a man appearing to be the Holy Father made his way up a hill, sprinkling of the blood of martyrs, etc.) actually was the "whole story". It may have been. Or it may not have been.
