Can I suggest some organizational ideas for the Boards? May be good to subdivide into general areas of interest, perhaps using the, er, "other place" as a template. Something along the lines of:
Doctrine and Catechesis Scripture Liturgy General Catholic Discussions Prayer Intentions Meet and Greet Clubhouse/Games Sandbox
Without going too crazy...?
I'm not too keen on subforums.
Thoughts?

I think that might make it easier to navigate for our non-Catholic friends as well...... WE'll see what our fearless leader says, God love him.
AVATARS FOR ALL! ( that's my silly suggestion) Original ones, I mean.

I never appreciated the Meet and Greet over "there." Many newbies offered such minimal information, such as "Hi - I'm so and so" and little other personal information. It doesn't provide a good service in my opinion.

Actually, I didn't care for it because I DARED to ask a question and got slammed by a Mod because it was a meet and greet, not a place to ask question. ?? Friendly from the start. Not.

HA! It just occurred to me: maybe I can write a spoof of it based on the old wartime tune "OVER THERE"

I'm also thinking that Esteemed Founder should consider, as the board grows (God willing), that trusted members become Mods too and form some kind of (virtual) council to help maintain the peace while balancing out or tempering action. It's just that a single mod may not necessarily be good thing in the long run (take Conte's board as an example), and it can become heavy-handed too.

I think we've had enough of Moderators. Really don't need this to become a heavy handed forum.Let's see how it goes & try to keep it civil & courteous, without someone holding a sledge hammer over our heads.

I'm sure he's watching closely. As it grows, he may need help, yes. Hopefully some clerics will join at some point, which helps people stay in their lanes. And I'm also sure that there's a pretty good level of integrity here thus far. Great suggestions thus far.
God bless everyone here.

At this point I think we're small enough to self-police, God forbid some of the bad habits of that other place be dragged over here! But that may get cumbersome over time. The Fearless Abbot will be the sure judge of when he needs appoint a prior and sub-prior --and heaven forbid we should get that big-- deans (cf RB ch. 21).

As per Porthos' suggestion, I'm working on restructuring the forums so that they're more specific and user-friendly. Don't worry, no posts will be lost. =)
As for additional moderators - any volunteers? Anyone to say "Here I am, Q, send me"? ^_^

I won't volunteer unless I can be a sock, too.

Do we need more moderators just yet? I might be interested, I'm just thinking of how to fit this into my other post-retirement commitments. Seems I am busier since retiring. Lots of folks told me I would be. I didn't believe them until I did... Do we get vacation and sick days?

When the forum gets around 500 members...then we need mods. Right now? I think if Ora gets out of line I can just send him a virtual snowball! HAHAHAHAHA
Love this place. I really do.

Whoa, that reminds me of this hilarious LiveJournal called "Shipwar!!1" in which people could create sockpuppets who acted like rabid fans of particular pairings ("ships") in Harry Potter, Twilight, etc... and go at it like cats and dogs! Sadly, it's now defunct. Maybe we could create a "Catholic War!!111" subforum and allow only socks to post there....
