The LTNs have crippled a number of small businesses because vans or lorries can't get close enough to deliver easily and some have just refused to deliver any longer as it is too much hassle. I ordered a new mattress for my father a few days ago. The delivery driver this morning had to phone me so I could guide him by telling him roads to go down and which to avoid. If he goes down the wrong it's an £80 fine.

Bureaucracy has gone mad and is becoming a god that consumes all in its path.
People think up (a verb I use in their regard rather loosely) these schemes; however, they don't seem to think through any possible consequences.
Although not the same I witnessed another example of blind obedience to the god bureaucracy. In our town centre there are blocks of apartments and all the surrounding roads have double yellow lines. I saw a traffic warden arguing with some guys who were carrying what was obviously building debris from these apartments. They were loading it into their vehicle which was clearly bearing the logo of their building firm. They asked the warden how he expected them to load the waste materials onto their vehicle if they couldn't park it there. All the warden did was tell them you cannot park here remove the vehicle. You may imagine what the builders told him to do. They carried on and he ticketed them. I know yellow lines are here to keep traffice free flowing but this particular street was not busy, was not a through road and in those circumstances it was obviously necessary to temporarily park there.
