According to Tucker Carlson, Russia and the United States will formally go to war in 2024.
Of course, this is merely a prediction by one person, and we should not fear-monger. But we all know that such a war would have tragic consequences, not just for great nations such as the United States and Russia, but for the entire world, even if such a war were fought only with conventional weapons.
In my opinion, it is unlikely the two nations will go to war formally. But it is certainly possibly there will be a major escalation of the conflict. Russia and the USA are already de facto at war. There could be an escalation of some kind that whilst not formally a war between the two nations is basically akin to a conventional war.
We can only hope that God will save the world from such a terrible war. Tragically, the great leaders of the world do not seem to be interested in peace, neither those in the Kremlin nor in the White House. And this is a grave danger for world peace. Putin himself said that if there is a nuclear holocaust, it will not matter "because we will all go straight to heaven". Patriarch Kirill said that the destruction of Russia will mean the end of the world. The statements from the American side may be less apocalyptic, but no less comforting.
Most of us know people, or knew people, who grew up in the time of the Second World War, and all of us know people who grew up during the time of the Cold War between the USA and the USSR. As for people who came of age in the former period, there are fewer and fewer each year. Those who fought in that terrible war are now at least in their 90s. And as that generation dies out, the successive generations forgot what world war - even war fought with conventional weapons - looks like: the deaths of tens of millions of people.

Russian can't even do well in a war against Ukraine. They have had to get weapons from Iran and China already. The USA would stomp the snot out of Russia in short order in a conventional war, let alone the entire strength of NATO.
How in the world can anyone listen to Tucker, he has simply reverted to spewing nonsense that certain parties drool like dogs over. He lost any credibility he had a long, long time ago.

The Russian Federation has far more nuclear weapons than the United States of America.
If Putin believed he might be defeated in a conventional war, I do not hesitate to think he might use nuclear weapons.

And the fact Russia is much weaker than the USA, whilst true, does not mean there will be no war.
The two nations are already at war, de facto, in Ukraine. And Russia has hardly been defeated in Ukraine. They occupy a huge proportion of eastern Ukraine and the Ukrainians are not making much progress.

If during a hypothetical war with the US, Putin decided to launch a nuclear strike, what is to say the personnel actually responsible for launching that strike will follow orders?
Heck, when he was trying to raise troops for the current war with Ukraine, men fled Russia and failed to come to service.

I have no idea, maybe they would not follow the order and depose him, but who knows? My only point is that every possible effort must be made to avoid this threat to world peace. Even though Russia is far less militarily capable than the USA, it is still capable of fighting a war against it and launching nuclear weapons. And this would be a tragedy for the whole world. Unfortunately, neither side is making any efforts in the direction of peace. Both talk only of war. |

We see that the poor, innocent, martyred Ukrainian people became victims of a terrible power play between two great nations. Even as their blood cries out to heaven for vengeance, and even as the brightest of Ukraine's young men and women die every day, all Russia and the West can talk about is offensives, weapons, and more death.

They have recently strengthened NATO, hopefully making for a more secure Europe. Russia may not like a strengthened NATO, but that is their problem not the rest of Europe's or the worlds. If Putin would simply act like a grown up and a member of a world community, he could sell all the oil and gas he wanted to to the rest of the world, improve the people in his country's lives and things would be great. However he prefers to not play nice with the rest of the world, has dreams of reinstituting the USSR, and keeps the oligarchy system in place in his own country. Does anyone really believe the Prigozhin's flight crash was an accident? Seriously? |

The solution is very simple. Russia just pulls its troops out of all of Ukraine. End of war. They were the aggressor. Ukraine has asked the world to help supply their army, because if they didn't, they would not be able to keep fighting. None of this is Ukraine's fault. |

I don't think anybody views the crash as an accident. We all know well that Putin V. V. was behind it, almost certainly.
To say the US is "dedicated to world peace" is quite an interesting statement. Where does the bombing of Yugoslavia, the carving off from Serbia of Kosovo, the constant support for and the selling of arms to the Saudis as they commit genocide in Yemen, the unconditional support for Israel, the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, support for the regime that killed St Oscar Romero come into this......?
I have nothing against the USA, my father is an American citizen, America is a great nation, but I think neoconservatism is a tragically flawed (to put it mildly) ideology.
As for NATO, may I ask how the United States would react if Canada and Mexico joined alliance with China and Russia and welcomed large contingents of Chinese and Russian troops near the American border?
At the end of the day, NONE of this justifies the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. But there is a context people should be aware of.

What the West should be doing is encouraging the two sides to negotiate and reprimanding the Ukrainian government for persecuting Christians. Yet we have evidence that Boris Johnson told Zelensky not to negotiate and said he should continue on fighting.
I am not against sending weapons to Ukraine, but in a sense it would have been better if the West had actually tried to act as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia to find a solution to this tragedy.
Nobody said it was the fault of Ukraine. It is a tragedy, that two fraternal brother states should go to war. It is an absolute tragedy. The Ukrainian and Russian peoples are not to blame for this calamity. Nor can anything justify what Russia is doing in Ukraine. But what we must be aiming for is peace, peace, and more peace - and Russia and Ukraine should sort their differences out at the negotiating table.

I am not suggesting that the US hasn't made some bad policy decisions in the past, or doesn't make some decisions for economic reasons, but in general, the US seeks peace. The US has spent many times over, the amount that all other nations in the world have spent on defense towards the rest of the world. In addition, many times over the amount of all nations combined in humanitarian aid for the world. There is no reason for Canada or Mexico to side with Russia. They have nothing that the US hasn't already provided to both countries. The entire Russian economy is only that of our third most productive state, and less than 10% of our entire economy. Again, Russia has nothing to offer them. Russia has had the past 70 years since WWII to learn to play nice with the rest of the world. They chose otherwise, and until they change their mentality, they will remain a pariah to most of the rest of th world. |

I wasn't saying they had reason to side with Russia. I was speaking hypothetically, how would the USA react if Russia and China formed a NATO-like alliance and Canada and Mexico both wanted to join after popular coups (backed by China and Russia nonetheless) overthrew the established governments?
Because that is sort of what happened in Ukraine with NATO / the West.
