Good article and your comments very much mirror my own feelings regarding the apparitions.
I know San Sebastian de Garabandal and it is a very unusual place. On one hand It is a very typical example of mountain villages in this part of Spain and is situated at the head of a somewhat remote valley, but the draw to many of pilgrimage to this remote place has brought a far more organised and relatively cosmopolitan feel to the village and to its residents. I have visited many sites of religious and supernatural renown and I have to say that it certainly has an atmosphere and sense of presence that few others have.
Here are some videos of a man who seems to be Scottish on pilgrimage there, They give good clues as character of the village, pilgrim sites and pilgrims who attend this very beautiful area.
p.s. you also get to see and hear some playing of the local "Gaita Cantabrica" - a type of Northern Spanish bagpipe -with traditional music near the end of the third video.
