Another way to pray the St. Andrew Christmas Novena. I prefer reciting it as a meditative prayer without the audio/video by this is nice to listen to and prayer along. Thought I'd share it. You can also go on Amazon where there is a free app to download the prayer which counts how many you have said. It resets back to zero every day. m.youtube.com/watch?v=-cvJhhtpYfg

I think that it is the thumbs up icon on top right hand side of your reply. Since this site is new too me I'm navigating it slowly until I can get the hang of it. Similar to CAF enough for me to post occasionally. The Christmas Novena is one that I look forward to every Advent. I start early usually by September to discern for whom or what I want to pray. I've found that I need to limit my intentions to 4 because I say this prayer 15 times for each intention. Such a beautiful way to reflect on the Incarnation, Holy Family and the birth of Jesus during Advent. I buy prayer cards of this novena to give out during November in church. Unfortunately this year I have 100 paper novena cards that won't get used because of our COVID environment. Thanks to this forum for giving me the opportunity to share this old Catholic devotion with everyone on this site. It is a very powerful prayer. Both of my children are happily married because of this prayer. 🙏🙏 Here it is in a printed version that I can easily post. 4.bp.blogspot.com/-EnNxe8pxfGc/ULjSWcjK6_I/AAAAAAAAAQM/6xysMIp6PlI/s400/St.-Andrew-Christmas-Prayer1.png

You will have to scroll down until you come to the St. Andrew Novena. There is a small picture of St. Andrew with the X cross in the background It was created by Truso Web Development in 2017. It was a free app when I got it. Once it is on your own device, it can be shared with family and friends via personal email. I hope this helps anyone interested in an easy way to keep a daily track of how many times you have said the prayer.

Imprimatur - Michael Augustine Corrigan the 3rd Archbishop of New York, February 6, 1897 It is pious believed that whoever recites this prayer 15 times daily from the feast of St Andrew on November 30th until Christmas will obtain what is asked.

I always think about my Father on the feast of St. Andrew because growing up he was the one to remind us all to pray the Christmas Anticipatory Novena. As a kid I did but after my Father died when I was 17 years old, I forgot about it. Later as an adult, my Mom sent me a copy of the novena. Then she'd be the one to call to remind me about it and to say the St. Andrew's Novena during Advent. This year I've signed up for an Advent daily reflection from the Augustine Institute and of course the topic for today was St. Andrew. Since St. Andrew was the first Apostle of Jesus and brought his brother St. Peter to the Messiah, it was suggested to share this Christmas Anticipatory Prayer with a family member. I sent an email reminder to my sister and suggested that she in turn send it to her daughter and asked her to share how it has been handed down within our own family. The copy of the novena that my Mom sent to me had an Imprimatur at the bottom from Michael Augustine Archbishop of New York dated February 6, 1897. I got curious about him and found out that his full name is Michael Augustine Corrigan and he was from Newark, N.J. Before becoming the 3rd Archbishop of New York, he was the Archbishop of Newark. Prior to being appointed as Archbishop of those dioceses, he served as both Vice President and President of Seton Hall. My fraternal grandmother had a nephew who was an ordained priest and also served in some aspect at Seton Hall. I can't help but wonder if that's how she knew about and fostered the practice of saying this novena. Just speculating and taking a look back into our Catholic history. Archbishop Corrigan was an interesting figure and some what controversial in his day. Any way Happy Feast of St Andrew and below is from the Augustine Institute who sends out the Advent reflections. RN69 Beginning on St. Andrew the Apostle's feast day, November 30, the following beautiful prayer is traditionally recited fifteen times a day until Christmas. This is a very meditative prayer that helps us increase our awareness of the feast of Christmas and helps us prepare ourselves spiritually for His coming. Prayer: Hail and blessed be the hour and moment In which the Son of God was born Of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, [here mention your request] through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.
