Here we witness HSD bouncing intruders out and showing his mastery of other languages. I could actually do posts on Catholic theology from the original comic this comes from.

I actually can about halfway figure out Portuguese, from my knowledge (such as it is) of French, Spanish, and Latin. Italian is even easier. Romanian is just weird. Written, that is. Spoken, all bets are off.

Romanian is something of a linguistic puzzle. For a laugh try Finnish.

Romanian is something of a linguistic puzzle. For a laugh try Finnish. But at least Romanian has some link to the other Romance languages. Finnish doesn't have a link to anything except Estonian. (Yes, I know, some say Hungarian, but any such link would be so tenuous, that it would be useless, as far as any alleged mutual intelligibility is concerned.) www.theguardian.com/notesandqueries/query/0,5753,-2073,00.html

I've always wanted to learn it but too many resources available are for Brazilian Portuguese. As I live in the UK I'm more likely to go Portugal than Brazil to want to learn European Portuguese. Which form of Portuguese is this comic in?

Why do think Romanian is weird?
I'm currently trying to learn Romanian on Duolingo and I enjoy doing so. The principal problem with it is the audio for this language on Duolingo is appallingly bad. Consequently, I'm still struggling with some of the more challenging pronunciations.

I have!
I primarily stopped due to time factors. There's too much to do and too little time. I discussed it with myself before stopping but decided that the probability of going to Finland is close to zero and, therefore, my likelihood of using Finnish is very remote.
I did like the fact it is a phoentic language. Whenever I encountered a new word even though I might not know what it meant I knew how to pronounce it.

Consequently, I'm still struggling with some of the more challenging pronunciations. Because while it's recognizably a Romance language, it's got all these twists and turns, putting the article "-ul" at the end of the word, plurals made by adding "-or", and so on, as well as many Slavic borrowings. If one gets into it, I suppose it's not particularly difficult, as Vincent Vega said in Pulp Fiction, "...it's just a little different".

Yes, it is a little unusual in the definitite artilce (the) being suffixes on nouns.
Given its geographical isolation from all other Romance langues and its location it's not surprising it has quite a significant vocabulary with Slavic etymology. However, I note quite a lot of cognates with other Romance languages.
My main surprise when I started looking into it is how much like a Romance language it sounds. I thought it would sound more like a Slavic language.
My primary problem is learning its pronunciation. There are not many resources out there for learning Romanian pronunciation.

You can tell by the word vocĂȘ, the personal pronoun for "you". In Portugal it would be tu.

People might find this set of panels from near the end of the story of interest. Yes, that is supposed to be God talking to Superman:
