Does anyone know where I can download for free a copy of the Roman Breviary in PDF format. I may be asking too much but I would like it to meet the following requirements:

I could be wrong. As a side note, I am considering the creation on CCS of an archive of traditional Catholic files such as this, if ProBoards allows that, and if there could be no question of right to use.

Thank you very much for this. I was unaware of it. Incidentally, there are several free downloadable copies of 19th century copies available on line via the Google books app, but I cannot vouch for any of them.
F.Y.I. A good resource for hundreds of free downloadable, copyright free, traditional Catholic books can be found here:

I believe items on the site "Internet Archive" are free of copyright.

www.traditionalcatholic.co/free-catholicbooks/This very well could save me the trouble of creating such an archive. In any case, it would simply be links --- such as are included in the page you cite --- not the documents themselves.

The problem with that website is you have to wade through a very long list of books. It is neither organised into sections or topics and the books aren't listed alphabetically.

The problem with that website is you have to wade through a very long list of books. It is neither organised into sections or topics and the books aren't listed alphabetically. I find that use of the word search facility in almost every major browser will largely overcome these problems. You will however need to know a word (or more) from the title or part of the name (at least) of the author. This has to be carried out on each page, but as this site lists hundreds of titles on each page it works well.
You will usually find it by clicking on the three horizontal bars that will be found in a corner of your browser page.
In Firefox: Click on the lines then click on “Find in page” and enter the data in the search box that appears, possibly in the lower left of the screen, and the data if on the page, will be highlighted
Or simply try Ctrl+F and enter the data.
For Chrome based browsers: Click on the lines then find “Find….” in the drop down menu, enter the data etc.
For Opera browser Ctrl+F should open the search box, enter the data etc etc

I know how to do a search, thank you.
The search function is only of any utility if you have a title or author your want to search for. It is not at all useful for browsing.
It would have still been helpful if the site had been organised.
Well it may have taken time to do, things that are worth doing take time.
At the very least it would have taken the site's administratior a few clicks of a mouse to put the titles in alphabetical order.

Well as the site is organised and financially maintained as as act of charity (I understand), perhaps anyone dissatisfied with it might care to take over the running of it or even just simply cut and paste the links into a newly created site and free him or her of the burden?

The fact someone voluntarily chooses to do something does not mean they have to do it poorly. Software would quickly put the books in alphabetical order without much effort.
If I wanted to take over the site I might face objections from its current owner. I don't want to take over the site. If I wanted such a site I'd have created one myself.

If I wanted to take over the site I might face objections from its current owner. I don't want to take over the site. If I wanted such a site I'd have created one myself. I'm a poor one to venture any sort of opinion, as my own site ( www.homeschooldad.info) is a mess right now. I put it together using Open Office (which is positively awful for making websites) and haven't been able to do much with it. What I really need is some kind of program that will let me make the website without having to rely on a third party such as WordPress (which is even worse than Open Office), where I would have everything I need resident on my own machine, and allow me to upload it all to GoDaddy. I have searched in vain for such software, and you'd think it would be easy to find. I don't even mind paying a modest amount for the program (though I always prefer freeware). Does anyone have any ideas? (This can segue off into another thread if need be, though as I said elsewhere in my comments, I'm not going to be some sort of "thread drift fascist" who insists that matters remain strictly "on-topic". Some time back, I managed to foul the Cheerios of some malcontent on CAF, and he went through all of my posts like Pac-Man eating dots, flagging many of them as "off-topic". Very petty. If it was who I think it was, he was recently ejected from another forum for bad behavior.)

If it was who I think it was, he was recently ejected from another forum for bad behavior.) Some years ago now I was "volunteered" to design my department's website. I wasn't to be responsible for the entire site but its basic structure with others contributing. It wasn't something I wanted to do but having been "volunteered" by the head of department I did it. If I do something I try to do it well so I put a lot of time and effort into it above and beyond all my other responsibilities. When it was finished and ready for uploading the institution decided it didn't want inidvidual department websites at that time. As I couldn't decide over who's head to smash the computer it stayed safely on my desk. That was me finished with designing websites. I cannot remember the software we used. I will try to see if I can discover what it was. However, with the pace at which IT moves I suspect what we used then would now be the subject of ancient history.
