It is clear why Ukraine's counter-offensive has not succeeded. We need only look at the spiritual side of the conflict. The Ukrainian government brutally persecutes Christians of the Eastern Orthodox Church. It confiscates their churches, imprisons and sanctions their bishops, and stirs up media hatred against them. This has demoralised the Ukrainian Army, many of whose members are part of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand" [Mark 3: 25]. In the Second World War, when the Slavic peoples faced an existential threat to their existence from the Nazi fascists, Stalin, the worst oppressor of Christianity in history, changed course. He blessed the Orthodox Church for a massive revival. In turn, the Russian Orthodox Church blessed the Soviet Army to fight the Nazi fascists. Red Army battalions went into battle with banners and standards showing Our Lady and the saints. Stalin, the worst oppressor of religion, realised that to win a war you cannot fight against God or the Church. Guess what? The evil Nazi fascist Army was pushed back from the gates of Moscow to Berlin, where it was destroyed.
Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky really hasn't learned anything, has he?
