People in the west seem not to want find their identities in helping the societies?
When I think of the word, the "West", the first thing that comes to mind is a teenager chewing bubblegum and texting in class with earphones discreetly hidden.
What are your thoughts on this?

Am I correct in thinking you are not from "the West"? Have you actually visited "the West" and seen this disrespect you mention?

I am not sure why that makes you think of "the West". The idea of teenagers as a separate category may only have arisen in mid-20th century USA, but the attitude problems have always existed amongst people of that age group in all cultures. Insofar as that is indicative of teenage rebellion, that's not just a western issue. It's a universal teenage issue. I doubt the average Chinese, Russian, or Iranian teenager is any less like that than the average American or European teenager!

I hate to argue. Yes, I agree with both the opinions posted here.

Of all the things I could worry about a teenager doing (and I am presently raising one), chewing bubble gum and texting in class while wearing earphones would be very, very low on the list. If these peccadillos could be thought of as sins, they would be only venial, and even then, only because they are malum prohibitorum. Drug abuse, premarital sexual activity, pornography, fighting, bullying, cheating on exams, driving while impaired, even the kind of exclusivist cliquishness that descends into hatefulness (think Mean Girls), all of these are far worse than what you describe. And I am sure such things as you describe take place outside "the West", assuming the pupils can afford such things as phones and even chewing gum. If they can't, they'll surely find other things.

A lot of rubbish in this thread.
People of all age groups are sinners, not just teenagers. And what some of you call "the West" is just liberalism, which is the opposite of traditional Catholic West.
