Gangsterism is a big issue in S Africa and CT.
The largest gang in the country is run discreetly by a former school principal, above all people. Youth who are poor usually get recruited into gangs when they are fourteen years old and can’t leave the hell they put themselves through easily.
Some men even murder others in order to go to jail where they will have a life of “purpose” that fills the void of their empty lives.
How do Americans feel about gangsterism? Is gun control really helping this issue? How do the youth find God when there is no one able to preach to them?
SA has become a nanny state giving out social grants and not proving employment through businesses.
Any thoughts?

For a Catholic perspective on this issue, I suggest you check out the writings and ministry of Fr. Gregory Boyle, a priest who's dedicated his life's work to ministering to gang members in Los Angeles.
For those living in a culture that does not reward an *honest* living, a dishonest one may look enticing for survival. Tragically, youth recruited to these gangs don't have a high life expectancy.
