November 30th is the feast day of St. Andrew. For me this is the start of the Christmas season and time to begin praying the Christmas Novena. It is an old Catholic tradition to pray for special intentions. Below is the prayer written out as it is presented on prayer cards. I will also include a YouTube video for those who prefer to pray along to an audio version. It is a beautiful way to contemplate on the Nativity: Mary, Joseph and the the birth of Our Lord. Advent is the time to prepare for His coming into our hearts. This simple prayer but powerful Novena can accomplish that. Say 15 times a day from St. Andrew's Day (30 November) until Christmas Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ and of His Blessed Mother. Amen (It is piously believed that whoever recites the above prayer fifteen times a day from the feast of St. Andrew until Christmas will obtain what is asked.) Imprimatur - Michael Augustine Corrigan - Archbishop of New York, N.Y. - February 6, 1897 m.youtube.com/watch?v=-cvJhhtpYfg

Thank you jcath for responding to my post. This has been my zealous endeavor to keep this long standing Catholic devotion alive. I know you as a strong and faithful prayer warrior so I am going to task you with keeping this novena going by sharing it with your family and friends. I always send a reminder to my adult children to pray the novena just as my father did to me. They in turn do the same having experienced prayers answered sometime and in God's own way during the coming year. The answer isn't always a yes or yes in exactly how you envisioned it. Sometimes the answer to your unanswered intentions is a peaceful acceptance of God's will or the resolve to keep on praying but I'm sure you realize that. My 4 novena intentions this Advent are varied from pressing global appeals to specific family needs to poignant situations of friends/acquaintances. I write these intentions down on my Kindle calendar for the 11/30 date and am able to check on if they are answered throughout the coming year. If not I'll often put that intention down on the novena again. Pray incessantly! 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
