covdio.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/LetterToParishioners.pdfI've got to say, if what Bishop Iffert says here is accurate --- I would have to hear the sermon, or read a transcript, before I could speak with certitude --- I'm with the bishop on this one. Those comments go beyond the pale of what might be legitimate criticism of the Novus Ordo. Moreover, in the present climate, it would be far better for TLM priests not to be so "in your face" about these matters, especially when preaching a homily. Look what happened to Bishop Strickland.

It's not loading, unfortunately. You've got me curious . . . Dunno. Try this: covdio.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/LetterToParishioners2.pdfIt may have been a case of "LifeSiteNews Derangement Syndrome" on the part of the diocese, as the LNS story had a hot link to the original PDF URL, and the Covington diocese didn't want people accessing it from LSN, so they created a different link with a "2" in the name. I don't know, I'm just guessing. LNS is a bit biased --- as are many, if not most, news sites --- but you get information there, that is hard to find anywhere else, at least with such ease. There's another traditionalist Catholic web site, which is at least pseudo-sedevacantist, to which I don't post links here, but if you want to get "ear to the ground" news, news that is hard to find elsewhere, that's the place to go. And then there's this, WRT the continuance of the TLM community in Covington: covdio.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/20240119LetterToParishioners4.pdfGood to know. There seems to be some legal reason why they can't continue Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes, and if this doesn't foreshadow an attempt to suppress that community, so much the better. It very well may be, that the problem was just with the two priests. Covington is a very old city --- would remind you a bit of Baltimore, Covington has about as much in common with the rest of Kentucky as the Bronx does with rural upstate New York --- and St Ann's is in a kind of shabby part of town.

And this, from the two priests in question: rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2024/01/statement-from-suspended-kentucky-tlm.htmlThis might sound strange, coming from a diehard TLM adherent, but I'm not buying this about the priests' "charism" preventing them from concelebrating Novus Ordo Masses when their bishop directs them to do so. They could do it --- they should do it --- don't have to like it, don't have to be crazy about it, but he is their bishop, and if he says to do it, well, just do it. Looks like they made at least some of their own trouble. I just hope their parishioners don't have to suffer over it. And as to this "Mason-Dixon Latin Mass Society", I looked at their Twitter/X feed, and as they would say back in that part of the country, they've got kind of a smart mouth on them. That area is not the genteel, "bless your heart" South, people don't mince words, and you always know where you stand with them, even if it ain't pretty. For the Covington TLM community to be involved with them is just asking for trouble.
