crisismagazine.com/opinion/exit-the-popeThis is getting worse all the time. Unless it would have been one of the Popes in early Church history such as Liberius or Honorius, whose reigns were, to say the least, problematical, I've never heard of faithful, orthodox Catholics turning on the occupant of the papal chair like this. All of the post-Vatican II Popes have had their naysayers on the far fringes, but just the other day, at a parish I visited, I heard the parish secretary ripping into Francis! Parish secretaries are usually nice little ladies who never cause anyone any problems. What things have come to. And these are not "modern" Catholics such as those who, crestfallen by Humanae vitae and wanting to use contraception (a departure from traditional Catholic morality, not a defense of it), resolved that they would "obey the Pope" on their own terms. They wanted an easy Catholicism, and use of NFP is hard. Most of all, it requires self-denial of one of man's most basic instincts, an instinct that often takes on a life of its own, and often leaves its possessor in a state of clouded judgment. The present situation is nothing like this. We don't have a road map for this. All we can do is stay true to the traditional Catholic Faith.

Good article, and yes: "Qui tacet consentit" - Silence DOES imply consent !
