Saint John Paul II, Pope, in Catechesi Tradendae, describes Gospel of St. Matthew as the gospel for catechists (and I would extend that to evangelizers and apologists), and the Gospel of St. Mark as the Gospel for catechumens. How would you describe, in a similar way, the other two Gospels? What do you think of: Gospel of St Luke: Gospel for missionary disciples. Gospel of St. John: Gospel for mystics and contemplatives.
Understanding that all of us, in our path to perfection, fulfill all four of those roles.

St. Luke wrote Acts so it makes sense. St. John is my favorite Gospel writer as I pray often and hpe one day to hear God through contemplation.
