They never acknowledge my kids birthday or baptism day. They are left with lukewarm God parents.
What do your God parents do?

Not acknowledging birthdays and baptism anniversaries, that's just your social expectation. Nothing says godparents have to do that.
If they are lukewarm in their faith, that is of some concern, but it may change over the years, and you and your children may help to make that happen. I don't recall ever meeting my godparents, largely because my parents moved to another state when I was still a baby. Maybe my godparents prayed for me. Now that I think of it, I will pray for them too.
