Is this even allowed? Priest behind the altar, oils displayed in front. A person asked to smell the SC. Priest said yes. Outside the priests view, the person opened the bottle, smelled, then stuck their finger in there and anointed themself. I’m the only one who saw this. Dominus vobiscum

Simple trick eliminates fleas? wait, now its pepsi, and romwi clothes. *shrug* I’m going to guess the “algorithm that chooses ads based on your browsing history and interests“ made a boo boo.

I'm sorry for hijacking the thread.
I will no longer post on homosexuality or condoms.
Now for my answer to this thread I would think it's sinful what the person did. Sneaking behind a priests back cannot be good.

Sneaking behind a priests back cannot be good. I'm not going to get into whether it was sinful or not, but it might have been better to ask the priest "can I use this?", instead of doing it surreptitiously.
Without plumbing into the depths of whether only a priest may use sacred chrism, my gut reaction, if I had been the priest (in which case I would know "the rules" on this sort of thing), would have been to say "no, that is only for priests to use, if you would like an anointing with a blessing --- not Anointing of the Sick, or of Catechumens, just a devotional anointing --- I will do that, it's appropriate to me, not you".
And even though it's not blessed before consecration, I have a vague memory that I, like many other altar servers who went before me, either was allowed to sample a small amount of the wine, just to satisfy my curiosity (do not read something into this that wasn't there, I never encountered a predator priest), or we might have done it on our own, miserere nobis Domine. That was before the Church began permitting communion under both kinds (a practice I don't usually engage in, for hygienic purposes, we may have lost that forever anyway, with the pandemic).

I wasn’t figuring it to be “sinful” as they didn’t seem to have ill intent. Asked to smell, then dunked. It was in the cruet type bottle with SC etched in the glass, so I’m assuming it was the blessed stuff. I thought probably improper myself. I did not mention it to the priest, so far anyway. I might just have to ask him. homeschooldad I miss the water font. The church I attend has a small basin emptying into a BIG basin. Best time to know when the mass is starting is when they quiet the fountain. It is of course desert dry still. katy777 In regards to someone posting concerning condoms, or homosexuality on this thread, I’m a bit confused. Neither one here unless you meant the ads you saw. (Maybe as a result of your previous postings. That might make sense) The algorithm used is supposed to show ads based on your search history, topics or something. Doesn’t seem to work as I don’t need ladies short pants, blouses, or flea removal. Today’s ad for me is “Jimmy Dean sausage sandwiches”. That did kind of “hit home” though. Dominus vobiscum

The ad thing seem to be fun:
At the moment, for one poster, it is extremely aesthetically displeasing pieces by a particular jewelry company.

Contour diabetes test strips this morning. On the other forum, they kept trying to sell me swim wear. (Lilisomething) Would have been fine, “BUT” the ads were borderline obscene. (Get it? Huh?) Very “cheeky” pictures not appropriate for a Catholic forum if/when maintaining a chaste life. There was another that if posted on the forum, it would bring about “discipline”. Dominus vobiscum

During these uncertain times too, it is not hygienic to do this. If the person asked the priest to annoimt them,I'm sure he would have said yes.
