I don't know. I find no way of reporting posts which are nothing but links to dubious websites. Any way to play whack-a-mole with these interlopers?
We had Spam-o-matic at the vBulletin cancer forum I modded, and the ability to research and ban IP addresses.

As I said on the other post, the mods "do" have a way to ban accounts. I don't know what it is though. And I appreciate that the mods aren't too involved in moderating as the danger for this forum to turn into something like CAF is always there. But when users get to the point that they just spam links and fill up threads and refuse to have actual conversation about said topics, then it's definitely time for removal (after sufficient warning and prompting).

Although I would add that part of the charm of this place, for me anyway, is its intimacy. I would love to help grow this forum and bring more active users on here to faith share and build community with one another. But I hope this happens slowly. There are a number of Catholic forums out there and many of them are riddled with problems. This one, despite being very small, has been a real gem so far. I'm grateful for the closeness we all enjoy on here.

Dominus vobiscum As a P.S. you get a button in place of their post that says, “This post is hidden” and “display post” if you want to look anyway. Unless you have more than one blocked user, you’ll still know who it is, just not what the post link is. I blocked mercedes weeks ago and can’t figure out how to un-block.

po18guy On the post window, there is a little “gear” button. Click on that and a selection will appear for “report post.” I don’t know where it reports to. Dominus vobiscum Ooohhh.... maybe I should be a mod? Nope

You may have figured it out by now, but you unblock by going to your own profile, clicking the Privacy tab, finding the blocked person in your blocked list, and clicking the little X to the right of their name to remove them from the list. I just blocked you for a minute and unblocked you again to make sure it worked. If you are using a smartphone to access this forum, you might need to switch into Desktop View to see all the controls. Thanks for mentioning the blocking BTW, I didn't know this forum had it and I find it a very useful feature from time to time. |
