Getting ready for my bible study today, I am presenting this document to counter some false teachings a couple of Catholics are absorbing from attending a Non-Catholic bible study in our area. This was the Church's official response to condemn Luther's theses. I was struck by articles #28 and #29 which reads:
28. If the pope with a great part of the Church thought so and so, he would not err; still it is not a sin or heresy to think the contrary, especially in a matter not necessary for salvation, until one alternative is condemned and another approved by a general Council.
29. A way has been made for us for weakening the authority of councils, and for freely contradicting their actions, and judging their decrees, and boldly confessing whatever seems true, whether it has been approved or disapproved by any council whatsoever.
WOW! I never realized how seriously wrong are those "over there" who say they are permitted to disagree with Pope Francis or Vatican II, etc., without any sinfulness on their part. Worse yet, like Luther, they publish their personal theses openly to scandalize the innocent faithful.
I would hope that any of you who still frequent that place and run into this same situation will be able to counter them with these two entries. Comments welcomed.

There's an even more explicit text from the Council of Constance, which condemned the errors of Jan Hus: "If the Pope is wicked and especially if he is foreknown, then as Judas, the Apostle, he is of the devil, a thief, and a son of perdition, and he is not the head of the holy militant Church, since he is not a member of it." - CONDEMNED. In other words, those shouting "Sede vacante" every time a Papal interview raises their blood pressure are trapped - even if all they allege about the Pope is true (as Hus alleged centuries ago), he is still the head of the Church.
