That's not my father, my son, and me, it's just a generic photo.
We never took that fishing trip. The lake near our home is gross, the geese do their business all over the shoreline, and my son refuses to take a canoe out onto the water. I've got bug bites all over my legs, they see me and think they're at a buffet, in fact, when I have my checkup next week, I'm going to see if my doctor can give me any ointment or perhaps some kind of antibiotic, antidote, or something. I also have an allergic reaction, so I've discovered, when I get bit, I get sweaty and kind of panicky for a few minutes, and then it subsides. So if I want to get a quick shot of adrenaline, I suppose I can just go out and do some gardening for a few minutes If I would fall into that dirty water, I might risk getting necrotizing fascitis, amputation would make driving more difficult (so much for the new Camry), and there's no one else to run errands in the car. So I guess that canoe wouldn't be a good idea after all.
We are fine, though it made me sad to find and upload that picture. If he's still up for it, I'm taking my son on that brief overnight road trip today. We may stay one night, or two nights. It's what my father wanted.
The neighbors are looking in on my mother regularly, and one of them, a novelist (we have some interesting neighbors) and amateur chef, is making us dinner over the weekend.

I'm sure your son would enjoy an overnight trip with you. The avatar is very nice.

That is a nice photo. Perhaps you could get some advice from the Chemist regarding products to protect you from insect bites? They may even have natural products.
Enjoy your trip with your son. We used to fish with my Dad when we holidayed at the beach but our favourite thing was poker. Dad taught us to play poker with matchsticks for money and we all got pretty good at it.

I'm going to the doctor anyway next Friday, for a follow-up on an unrelated matter. It was supposed to be this past Monday, but for obvious reasons, I had to reschedule.
My son and I are on our trip right now, simple roadside hotel with outdoor pool and hot breakfast bar, half-hour from home. He had been waiting two years to swim in a pool again. I just sat there and enjoyed the cool air after a monster thunderstorm earlier in the evening. We went into the little downtown area --- it's an old historical town --- and he wanted to stop at Walgreens for some things.
For some reason, he ran into the house just as we left, to get a jacket. It was very warm today, so I wondered why, but we were trying to get gone, so I didn't question it. Just a little bit ago, he said he brought it along because it belonged to Grandpa, and he wanted to "bring him along with us".
I can't add anything to that.

This will surely sound crazy but when I was younger I got lots of bug bites and they drove me crazy. After years of it, I slowly became immune. Now I don't get them at all. Even ticks don't much like me now, which is a pleasant surprise.

Even ticks don't much like me now, which is a pleasant surprise. I haven't had a noticeable reaction to a mosquito bite in decades. Spider bites are a different story -- in recent years I've been treated twice for bad reactions to those. Dxx
