So, I'm thinking about all those times when someone told me a story about some prayer they were into, or novena they were praying, and then something happened that was a possible answer, but also freaky. Mostly because these tales are generally followed with the question "What do YOU think???" So...as you know I've been praying the Sacred Heart Novena...trying to figure out if I should go back to being a Music Director and RCIA Director, or if I should stay at my present miserable parish job/ long story. So, I'm locking up the church today, and as I pass the pamphlet racks (which only ever have pamphlets, no holy cards) and sitting there in one of the glass partitions, is a holy card of St. Cecilia. We, off course I recognized her and wanted her for my own, so I picked up the card and what was behind the card? A holy card of the SACRED HEART! ?? What do you think?

Hm....I've discovered that there are no coincidences. God has such unique ways of getting His message to us, so I'm not surprised you stumbled on this one. Oh yes, I could write a book on His wondrous interventions. I guess that's so we can recognize Him, since they are quite unexpected, and always seem to fit the answer to prayer we've been petitioning.
Did you feel a sense of deep peace as you noticed this? Did you resolve to look deeper into the desire of your heart, to test the waters, so to speak? You may find deeper conviction as you take the next step, so there will be no doubt.

Oh, I have a good one. A week ago, Mrs Q found, to her consternation, that one of her earrings had gone missing. We both went hunting quite energetically, but didn't find anything - at best, all we could say was that Q Junior hadn't swallowed it. Just as we were about to give up, I helpfully suggested: "Let's try praying to Saint Anthony." The next morning, she found it under her pillow, as if the tooth fairy had put it there. I didn't know St. Anthony had such a sense of humour.

I didn't know St. Anthony had such a sense of humour. St. Anthony never fails to help me. I always call on him when I misplace things. One time my sister told me via text that she couldn't find something. I suggested we both say a prayer to St. Anthony. Probably 5 minutes later, she sent me a text and said the prayers worked, she found it.

That sounds very promising, Clare. You may need to pursue this further. Prayers going up . . .

Clare, the Holy Spirit has sent you a message. All you have to do is listen.

Here's something that I often find as a leading from the Holy Spirit: Ps. 37:4-5 " Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
The only thing to reassure one's mind is to discern that the desire is not for selfish satisfaction, nor is it to escape an unpleasant situation. Rather, it is a peaceful, loving desire, that ultimately is pointed to His glory and honor, and He is the one who put that desire in your heart as a result of prayer.

Clare, seems the Holy Spirit is almost shouting now. This was the reading this morning: Trust God and God will help you; trust in him, and he will direct your way.

Anyone have any St. Therese (little Flower) stories?

Anyone have any St. Therese (little Flower) stories? Not really a story, but devotion to St. Therese is so popular in some parts of my home state (despite Christianity being a "minority religion" here) that her feast day is even offered as an optional holiday to federal and state government employees. My mother knew a family who kept up that tradition to the point that both their daughters were named Therese. (No, they weren't twins.)
