A little music can always make us feel better. So use this thread to post links to videos / clips of songs - either religious or secular - that you've found inspiring, moving or thought-provoking. A few ground rules: 1. No music videos that would violate forum rules, so no Madonna, Lady Gaga, Enigma, etc... 2. No offences against generally accepted good taste, so no Justin Bieber. ( 3. If you have musical talents that you'd like to share with us, don't be shy! I'll start: Queensryche - Someone Else?Though Queensryche is sometimes known as "the thinking man's heavy metal band" (until they went full-on Spinal Tap in the last decade), this song isn't heavy metal, but it does ask us the questions that we tend to ask ourselves at our moments of greatest doubt or uncertainty.

I always liked the song, "From a Distance". It was written in 1987 by American singer-songwriter Julia Gold. Made famous sung by Bette Midler.

So many songs! How can one choose? One at a time, maybe? Nothing bars us from posting multiple favourites here.

A lovely song, and a lovely performance and venue as well.

I really love hearing the late Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. Its haunting melody gives me goose bumps every time I hear it and with its Old Testament references (vg Now I've heard there was a secret chord...that David played, and it pleased the Lord) and the quadruple hallelujah refrain I always want to come away with some uplifting spiritual message...and I always fail. The only consolation is that by far I'm not the only one. Countless artists and groups have covered the song with dozens of variations to the lyrics and Cohen himself performed many different versions, some of which he admitted gave it a quite secular if not profane bent. That being said, here is a beautiful rendition of the song in which the lyrics were rewritten with permission to tell the Easter story. Enjoy www.godtube.com/watch/?v=0E02FMNUAnd if you like, below is a link a live performance of the song by Cohen himself. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrLk4vdY28Q

Check out k.d.lang's version as well. Hauntingly beautiful Agreed. One of several other covers I like. Even Kate McKinnon on SNL did a nice job IMHO.

A little music can always make us feel better. Women can sing, too. Canticle of Love by the Carmelite Sisters.
